These videos show all the exercises in the book from start to finish. There are no "breaks" in the videos for you to do parts of the exercise. Simply pause the video and return to CATIA V5 to try parts and return to the video as needed for clarity. Remember that there are many ways to accomplish a task in CATIA. These videos replicate the exercise in the book verbatim (nearly). You may reach the same goal using a different method here or there and that is OK. Also, CATIA is very flexible with regards to icon and toolbar placement. Do not get hung up by the fact that your screen may look different than the one in the video. Different licenses will also cause some of the pull-downs to appear differently. The videos are AVI files that have been "compiled" into an executable file. The necessary player is included in the executable file. To play one of the videos simply double click on it. The video will start in a window with a simple VCR-like toolbar at the top. The toolbar provides the following functions: Play Pause Stop Rewind to beginning Rewind Fast Forward Forward to end and a "slider" for scrolling forward or backward Many of these controls are available by right-clicking in the video window. If you would like to see the video in full screen mode you can either right-click and select Full Screen or simply press Alt-Enter. In order to rewind, fast forward, or use the slider control you must pause the video. The mouse pointer on the screen has a yellow filled circle around it to allow you to track it easier. When the mouse clicks you will see a red circle around the pointer. To get the most out of the screen, we do not show the video player's titlebar and window controls, so to close the video right-click in the window and select Exit. These videos are designed to be viewed on a system with a resolution of 1280x1024. This resolution was chosen as it is the preferred resolution for using CATIA V5. If your system is set to a lower resolution then either increase it or you will have to scroll the video alot. These videos were captured using software called Camtasia from TechSmith http://www.techsmith.com. To get the highest quality and best clarity possible we used an AVI CODEC that they developed called TSCC. If you do not know what a CODEC is do not worry about it, the executable file contains the CODEC and the code to install it on your system. If you do not have administrator rights to your system and the TSCC CODEC is not already installed the videos will not play. You should have someone with administrator rights log on to your system and play one of the videos. This will automatically install the required CODEC. Alternatively, the administrator can simply run the included TSCC.EXE file to install the CODEC.
