This course will teach the basic 3D functions
of CATIA. The student
is introduced to CATIA on a UNIX workstation and acquainted with
the input devices such as the keyboard and mouse. By the end
of this course, the student will have a fundamental understanding
of the methodology behind the CATIA product. This includes basic
model management such as part saving and retrieving, layering,
image manipulation and geometry standards. They will learn basic
3D geometry creation and manipulation including wireframe,
surfacing and rudimentary solid modeling.

This
is a follow on course to CATIA Basic. It will discuss how to
use CATIA for all design applications. Along with all of the
2D drawing and annotation tools, the student will be introduced
to advanced surfacing, solid modeling, and the associativity
between the 2D and 3D CATIA environments. Assembly management
and the building of Electronic Mock-Ups will be introduced. CATIA
exact solids will be discussed in detail along with all of the
tools required to; create, modify, analyze, parameterize and
visualize solids. Upon completion of this course, the student
will be capable of completing a 3D design and creating an
associative 2D ANSI standard drawing.
